Effect of the monotherapy of sitagliptin on glycemic control of patients with type 2 diabetes in different duration

- The effects of sitagliptin on type 2 diabetes patients of ≤1 year duration and 3-4 years duration were studied.
- Monotherapy of sitagliptin was effective to lower HbA1C in both groups.
- The degree of HbA1C decrease, and β cell function improvement was greater in patients of ≤1 year diabetes duration.
- The different magnitude of bioactive GLP-1 increase may lead to the different effect of sitagliptin on the two groups.
