Abstract
- In 2% of patients undergoing PCI for acute proximal LAD occlusion, the ECG shows the de Winter sign rather than STEMI.
- The de Winter sign was published in 2008 by the Wellens group in the Netherlands.
- The de Winter ECG pattern and its clinical significance, however, has already been recognized and described by Dr. Paul Dressler in 1947, 61Â years before the de Winter article.
- It appears to be justified to rename the “de Winter sign” to “Dressler - de Winter sign.”
