Abstract
Syncope is a relatively common reason for consultation in emergency departments. The case is presented of a 67 year-old male who was admitted to the emergency department with syncope secondary to a third degree atrioventricular block, which subsequently presented with multiple paroxysms of cough. The different mechanisms that explain this rare combination are discussed.
