Abstract
A new species of the hangingfly genus Bittacus Latreille, 1805, Bittacus lepiduscretaceus sp. nov., is described based on a well-preserved amber specimen from the mid-Cretaceous of Myanmar. The new species, the earliest fossil record of Bittacus, has new morphological characters to enhance our knowledge of the early evolution of Bittacus hangingflies. This new finding also provide evidence to broaden the diversity of Bittacidae in the Cretaceous.
