Abstract
Valve-in-valve implantation for dysfunctional bioprosthetic valves has been shown to be a safe and feasible option for selected patients (Dvir et al., 2014, Bapat et al., 2012, Piazza et al., 2011). Traditional treatment with redo surgical valve replacement comes with morbidity and mortality in elderly patients which has been negated through transcatheter techniques adopting a valve-in-valve strategy. However, the technique is still under adopted in India, the reasons for which are multi-factorial. We report India's first transcatheter mitral valve implantation for dysfunctional mitral bioprosthesis using a valve-in-valve approach.
