Abstract
A 65Â year old female, known case of hypertension and aortic valve disease, underwent aortic valve replacement (AVR) 10 years back, presented with complaints of swelling of face, upperlimbs and shortness of breath of NYHA class III to the emergency room. On examination, she had features of superior vena cava syndrome (SVCS) and atrial fibrillation. Subsequent investigations revealed the cause of SVCS to be an Dissecting Ascending Aortic Aneurysm (DAAA). SVCS is usually secondary to malignancy, particularly the carcinoma of lung, DAAA as a cause of SVCS is extremely rare and hence being presented along with review of literature.
