Abstract
Anemia was more common in diabetic CKD patients. Diabetes mellitus was independently associated with iron deficiency. Surprisingly, diminished iron availability was not more frequent in diabetic patients. The physio-pathological mechanisms that could explain these findings remain to be elucidated.
