Abstract
To compare the effectiveness of chloral hydrate and midazolam, the charts and the imaging studies of pediatric outpatients who underwent oral sedation for a noninvasive radiographic procedure were reviewed. A total of 326 oral sedations were attempted: 310 patients received chloral hydrate and 16, midazolam. The rate of failure in the chloral hydrate group was significantly lower than that in the midazolam group, 6.45% versus 43.75%, respectively (p < .0001).
