Abstract
The “shapelessness” of the atmosphere can be considered as one of the most archaic forms of expression of psychic reality, close to the first envelopes of the psyche and breath. The sensitivity of the clinician to this concept and its implications in the dynamics of transference and counter-transference, especially with psychotic patients, enables the emergence and the expression of early, traumatic experiences through what we propose to call “atmospheric signifiers”.
