Abstract
Injections are an important invasive treatment of athletes. Injections can start, facilitate and accelerate healing processes. An effective treatment of professional athletes at competition is unconceivable without local anaesthetica and cortisone. The sports orthopaedist must know the special effects and reactions, but also the limits and mistakes of the use of cortisone injections. Injections have also a psychological effect and an effective medicament is not always necessary.
