Abstract
Osseous stress reactions induced by sport activities result of repetitive, stereo-type external stress loading of a specific region. The classical location is the lower extremity with tibia, scaphoid and metatarsals. The etiology is mostly inadequat loading while constitutional factors can also contribute. The most important is the early diagnosis with consecutive adequate therapy, consisting of decreased loading and physical treatments. Stress fractures at risk localizations may also need surgical treatment.
