Abstract
The basic principles of tricuspid valve repair are presented. There are founded on the identification of the etiology of the lesion, the anatomic lesion and the dysfunction caused by the lesion. The most frequent cause of tricuspid insufficiency is pulmonary arterial hypertension leading to right ventricular and tricuspid annular dilatation. The techniques of tricuspid valve repair including those requiring a prosthetic ring are reviewed. The different types of available prosthetic ring are also commented. A brief review of the indications for valve repair in tricuspid insufficiency and the selection of the technique of repair are performed.
