The number of surgical procedures performed in France, is currently estimated to be 10 to 12.000 per year, with a regular increase of the gastric banding technique, which represents now more than 75% of the procedures. This review presents the main surgical procedures, and particularly, insists on their post-operative complications and their prevention, diagnosis and management.
