Abstract
⺠Teens working 26 or more hours per week had significantly higher substance use rates. ⺠Accounting for selection on unobservables, associations between hours of work and substance use would be near zero. ⺠Evidence of an association between earnings and substance use was less clear. ⺠Results indicate changes in the minimum wage are unrelated to teen substance use. ⺠Some evidence that the business cycle is associated with teen substance use.
