Abstract
Four amphiphilic europium(III) complexes of Eu(DBM)3(L1), Eu(DBM)3(L2), Eu(TTA)3(L1) and Eu(TTA)3(L2) (in which DBMÂ =Â dibenzoylmethanato, TTAÂ =Â thenoyltrifluoroacetonato, L1Â =Â 3-octadecyl-2-(4â²-dimethylaminophenyl)imidazo[4,5-f]1,10-phenanthroline, and L2Â =Â 2-(3â²-methoxy-4â²-octadecyloxyphenyl)imidazo[4,5-f] 1,10-phenanthroline), are synthesized and characterized. The Langmuir-Blodgett film-forming properties of Eu(TTA)3(L1) are studied by surface pressure-area isotherm measurement, low-angle X-ray diffraction, and UV-vis and emission spectroscopy.
