Abstract
Several polymers containing N,Nâ²-alkylated bipyridines have been studied. These systems have been investigated since 1980 and have continued to be the subject of charge transport studies. The viologen polymers are attractive materials because of their chemical stability, their relatively uncomplicated electrochemical behavior of dication/monocation redox couple, and their possible practical applications due to their electrochromic properties. In this study, the electrochemical behavior of the self-assembled viologen monolayer has been investigated with QCM, which has been known as a nanogram order mass detector. The self-assembly process of the viologen was monitored using a resonant frequency (ÎF) and a resonant resistance (R).
