Abstract
A new lipophilic bicentric organotin arsenate-selective carrier is reported. This new bis(dichloro-4-n-octylphenylstannyl)methane carrier is used for the construction and optimization of an arsenate-selective electrode. The liquid polymeric membrane of the arsenate-selective electrode was optimized and the resulting electrode shows a very good selectivity [KH2AsO4â,Xpot X: ClO4â (0.87)Â >Â AsO4â (0)Â >Â H2PO4â (â0.97)Â >Â NO3â (â1.24)Â >Â Clâ (â1.61)Â >Â SO42â (â3.16)] and a detection limit in the order of 2Â ÃÂ 10â6Â M, in a glutamic buffer of pH 4.0. This study sets the grounds for the development of an ionophore-based sensor for the direct and selective determination of arsenate in aqueous samples.
