Abstract
A new composite material [Cu(bipy)]4V4O12·2H2O(bipy=4,4â²-bipyridine) (1) has been synthesized using hydrothermal technology. 1 is a two-fold interpenetrating three-dimensional structure composed of {V4O12}4â rings covalently attached by four {Cu(bipy)}+ moieties through the terminal oxo groups of vanadium sites. Compound 1 is the first example of interpenetrating (3,4)-connected network constructed from metal-organic polymers and polyoxometalates. Interestingly, Cu(I) atoms have a T configuration and {V4O12}4â rings link to [{Cu(bipy)}+]n chains via two different connecting behaviors.
