Abstract
Four silver(I) and copper(I) complexes derived from the ligand 2,6-pyridinediylbis(2-pyridinyl)methanone (L) have been synthesized and their structures determined by X-ray diffraction. Different anion coordinating abilities lead to two kinds of infinite chains in [{Ag(L)}(ClO4)]â (1) and [{Ag(L)(NO3)}·CH3CN]â (2), in which ligand L exhibits different coordinating modes. In the isomorphous complexes [Cu(HLâ²)]2(BF4)2·2H2O (3) and [Cu(HLâ²)]2(ClO4)2·2H2O (4), L undergoes methanolysis at only one carbonyl group to form the monoketal HLâ², while the other one remains intact.
