Abstract
A novel mononuclear complex of p-sulfonatecalix[4]arene and neodymium (III) ions in the presence of pyridine N-oxide has been investigated by X-ray diffraction study, which reveal that the bi-layer sheet structure is formed in the solid state. An aquated neodymium ion connects the adjacent calixarene-pyridine N-oxide complex units through multiple hydrogen bonds to stabilize the bi-layer structure.
