Abstract
Two mononuclear complexes of formula [M(ampym)2(SCN)2(H2O)2]·2H2O (M=Ni(II), Co(II); ampym=2-aminopyrimidine) have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction methods, IR and ligand-field spectra. The Ni(II) and Co(II) compounds, which crystallize in the triclinic space group Pâ1, are isostructural, and their solid structures are stabilized by hydrogen bonding and Ï-Ï interactions between aminopyrimidine rings. The compounds exhibit solvatochromism as evidenced by a UV/Vis study in different solvents.
