Abstract
Upconversion properties of Er3+ doped 20GaF3-15InF3-20CdF2-15ZnF2-20PbF2-10SnF2 (GICZPS) glasses under 761Â nm excitation were studied by the absorption, emission, excitation and fluorescence lifetime spectrum at room temperature. Strong upconversion emissions at 408Â nm and 545Â nm were obtained at the same time. The intensity of violet emission at 408 nm is almost as strong as that of 545Â nm. When Er3+ content is 0.15Â mol%, the emission peaks of 408Â nm and 545Â nm all exhibit their maximal intensity. The upconversion mechanism of the two emissions is two-photon process.
