Abstract
The high spin levels of 136Ce have been established up to a spin of 23â through the heavy ion fusion evaporation reaction 124Sn(16O,â4n)136Ce. The level scheme has been constructed by using γ-γ coincidence techniques, angular correlation, and polarization asymmetry measurements. The level scheme of 136Ce exhibits many interesting features like several ÎI=1 bands and a highly deformed band. The B(M1)/B(E2) ratios, B(M1) and B(E2) values have been obtained for several transitions in these bands from branching ratios and lifetimes measured by using the Doppler shift attenuation method. The observations have been compared with the results of tilted axis and principal axis cranking calculations.
