Abstract
Elliptic flow systematics for different hadron species have been explained by quark coalescence models. We show that in addition to the condition that the quark phase space densities factorize there is a second condition, that the effective volumes are independent of the the azimuthal angle. We present some examples to illustrate the conditions for quark-number scaling to v2.
