Abstract
We demonstrate the excellent physics case of a β-beam facility in which the radioactive 6He ions producing anti-neutrinos are accelerated to γâ¼150 while the 18Ne ions producing neutrinos are accelerated to γâ¼250. We assume a baseline of 300 km. The interest of this scenario stands in the fact that it corresponds to the maximum acceleration that can be achieved by the SPS at CERN, and it could be realized without major technological challenges.
