Abstract
The determination of neutrino masses in Grand Unification is intimately related to the unification constraints on the symmetry breaking scale. We discuss some well-known but often overlooked problems of precise determination of the relevant scales. This has a strong impact on proton lifetime, but fortunately the computation of neutrino masses, at least when they are hierarchical, is free from these problems.
