Abstract
With the construction of a number of first generation optical Cerenkov telescopes for the detection of high energy neutrinos in the Mediterranean Sea already underway, we look towards the future. The next generation of Cerenkov neutrino telescopes will require a detection volume of typically one cubic kilometre to be instrumented. Such a device is currently being considered for construction in the Mediterranean Sea, this paper reports on recent progress towards this goal.
