Abstract
After a few introductory remarks of general character, I'll review the existing underground facilities in Europe, both in the West and in the East (including the projects in India). The main characteristics of the laboratories, depth, type of access, availability of support infrastructures, etc. will be discussed. I will also discuss the coordination actions present and planned in the framework of the European Union. I'll finish with an outlook on the future, which I think extremely challenging and rich, of underground science.
