Abstract
► We study the Italian reform of the judicial process (JP) of 2010. ► The effects of the reform are evaluated by using semi-Markov multi-state models. ► The reform is considered as a maintenance policy for the JP. ► The reward structure measures the reform's impact from the point of view of costs.
