Abstract
⺠Rural New Zealand schools offer research access to young people for study of grandparenting. ⺠Most grandchildren share regular everyday activities with their grandparents. ⺠One third of the grandparents live “close” to their grandchildren in the rural community. ⺠However over half the grandparents live beyond 90 min travel from these grandchildren.
