Abstract
While it has become somewhat overlooked over the past decade, the Husky Energy Courtyard's (HEC) tenth anniversary offers an opportunity to revalue the space and consider its current and potential roles at the University of Ottawa. Although the HEC is limited in fulfilling the intended original “boreal forest” and “open classroom” goals, it still satisfies many requirements for helping restore peoples' capacities to recover from stress and to process information more effectively. The space also offers ongoing research and educational potential as it evolves various ecosystem functions and serves as a refuge for local wildlife.
