Abstract
► Research suggests a link between the approximate number system (ANS) & math skills. ► The present study examined this link across the preschool period (3 to 5 years). ► Children with greater ANS precision had higher standardized math scores. ► Segmented regression analyses, however, revealed non-linearity. ► Children with lower math scores showed stronger traces of ANS processing.
