Abstract
⺠Non-steep berms are preferred compared to classical noise walls of the same height for long-term road traffic noise shielding. ⺠Negative effects of wind are nearly absent downwind from shallow berms, in contrast to noise walls. ⺠Optimal noise reducing berms are acoustically soft (e.g. by growing vegetation) with a flat top.
