Abstract
► We examined the effect of ammonia inhibition on exoelectrogens in continuous MFCs. ► A continuous single-chamber MFC can be adapted to strong-nitrogen wastewater. ► After their adaptation, the power densities of continuous single-chamber MFCs were 1.1-3.3-fold higher than those of batch MFCs.
