Inhibitive action of ferricyanide complex anion on both corrosion and passivation of zinc and zinc-nickel alloy in the alkaline solution

► The data of Tafel-plot are found to be in a good agreement with impedance (EIS) results. ► The inhibitor concentration causes gradually decrease in the height of the peaks. ► The inhibitor has beneficial effect as self-catalysis for the studied alloy. ► Adding K3[Fe(CN)6] to alkaline solution in the case of zinc or alloy was examined as a good anode in alkaline batteries. ► The inhibitor causes less corrosion rate and higher self-catalysis in the Passive region.
