Abstract
â¶ Poly(vinylidene fluoride) is grafted with poly(vinylbenzyltrimethylammonium. â¶ chloride) via atom transfer radical polymerization to afford an ion conductive ionomer. â¶ The ionomer shows a high ion exchange capacity and improved water affinity. â¶ A direct hydrazine hydrate fuel cell employing such ionomer as a catalyst binder exhibits 5-10 fold increase of output relative to that without using such ionomer.
