Abstract
▶ A computationally efficient 2D finite volume model was developed for analysis of tall SOFC stacks. ▶ The model predictions were validated against literature results for selected single and multi-cell benchmark cases. ▶ The impact of on-cell reforming, cell gas flow reduction, and cell voltage degradation on the temperature field of the tall stack was characterized. ▶ Measurement plates greatly affect the local temperature field in tall stacks and must be included in simulations of instrumented experiments.
