Abstract
▶ Our paper describes in a fundamental approach a new method to make macroporous anode materials for lithium deposition/stripping. ▶ The ionic liquid allows to influence the grain size and the structure of macroporous materials. ▶ Our manuscript shows that macroporous Al can cope with the mechanical stresses during Li deposition/stripping, without losing any electrochemical activity within 10 deposition/stripping cycles.
