Abstract

- Surface segregation of Sr and La is detected for all the (La0.8Sr0.2)xMnO3 compositions (x is from 0.95 to 1.05 (LSM95, LSM100, and LSM105)).
- Cr deposition is found across the LSM surface.
- Sr-containing compound leads to a high Cr content at the YSZ/LSM95 interface and strong bonding.
- La enrichment at the YSZ/LSM105 interface hinders Cr deposition and leads to poor bonding.
- The mechanisms of LSM elemental surface segregation and Cr deposition are discussed.
