Abstract
A novel cobalt (II) complex 1 [Co(IM2py-κ2N,O)2(H2O)2](ClO4)2 · 2H2O (IM2py = 2-(2-(pyridyl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-1-oxy)), has been synthesized by the direct reaction between Co(ClO4)2 · 6H2O and IM2py at room temperature. The X-ray analysis demonstrates that IM2py ligand is coordinated to cobalt (II) ion as an unusual didentate chelate with the κ2 N(py),O(IM) mode in 1. The variable temperature magnetic susceptibility data show that there are intramolecular ferromagnetic interactions between Co(II) ion and IM2py radical.
