Abstract
Oxalato-bridged complex [Cu(tmen)(ox)]n · 4nH2O (1) (tmen = N,N,Nâ²,Nâ²-tetramethylethylenediamine, ox = oxalate) with a zigzag chain structure have been synthesized and characterized structurally and magnetically. The X-ray analysis reveals that Cu(II) ions are bridged by ox in a bis-bidentate mode. The magnetic susceptibility data demonstrate that ferromagnetic interactions with J = 0.30 cmâ1 are operative between Cu(II) centers via the oxalato-bridges.
