Re(I)(tricarbonyl)+ complexes with anionic N∩S− thioxalato ligand

Reaction of Re(CO)5Cl with 8-thiohydroxyquinoline hydrochloride affords dimeric Re2(CO)6(SX)2, which undergoes farther reaction with strong donor pyridine giving monomeric Re(CO)3(SX)(pyr). Chemical and spectral properties of the N∩S− complexes generally resemble those reported for analogical N∩O− complexes. The dimeric N∩S− Re2(CO)6(SX)2 shows profoundly higher stability towards dissociation then its N∩O− counterpart.
