Abstract
In the current work, we have obtained a series of novel 25-hydroxyprotopanaxadiol (25-OH-PPD) derivatives by reacting with chloroacetyl chloride. All the 12 derivatives were evaluated for cytotoxicities against six human cell lines (BGC-823, HCT-116, Hela, Lovo, MCF-7 and U-87). And compounds 4, 6 and 7 had more potent anti-tumor activities than those of 25-OH-PPD (AD-2), A, B and C, which were acetylated derivatives obtained during the previous work. To a certain extent, compounds 4, 6 and 7 with a double bond have the potential to become new lead compounds. Results presented here may provide us useful guidance for further in-depth study and developing new anti-tumor agents.
