Abstract
Novel plumbagin hydrazone 3 was found to exhibit superior cytotoxic activity than the parent plumbagin compound against hormone responsive MCF-7 and non-responsive MDA-MB-231 triple negative breast cancer cell lines which was found to be mediated by inhibition of NF-κB expression. Docking studies in p50-subunit of transcription factor NF-κB suggested that plumbagin hydrazones favor additional hydrogen bonding interactions with amino acid residues of the protein resulting in higher binding energies than plumbagin resulting in superior cytotoxicities.57
