Abstract
► Different trimeric light harvesting complexes exist in pennate diatoms. ► The trimers have different polypeptides and trimers of Lhcf5 are most abundant. ► The trimers differ in pigments: Lhcf5 binds less, Lhcf2/10 more fucoxanthin. ► Binding of fucoxanthin to Lhcf5 induces the most extreme bathochromic shift. ► The ratio between trimers differs in high light as compared to low light conditions.
