Abstract
ⶠThe negative impacts of herbivory to plant metabolism are generally addressed, but plant strategies to surpass these impacts are not focused. ⶠTwo arthropod-host plant systems were accompanied in morphological and physiological approaches as the development of each gall requires repetitive processes and demand specific metabolical features. ⶠThe investigation of the galls in Aspidosperma australe and A. spruceanum demonstrated for the very first time the occurrence of plastoglobules, and its increase in size and number. ⶠThe features of the plastoglobules were related to the recovering of the thylakoid membrane systems, and consequently, to the maintenance of the photosynthetic rates in both galls.
