Abstract
▶ This manuscript investigates the contribution of photorespiration to oxidative load under moderate and severe salt and drought stresses in the tolerant plant Pancratium maritimum. ▶ The data shows that photorespiration was strongly induced under moderate but not severe stresses, whereas oxidative stress was highest under severe stresses, indicating that photorespiration is a minor contributor to stress-induced oxidative load. ▶ Up to the best of the author's knowledge, this is the first report providing evidence that photorespiration does not intensify the salt- and drought-induced oxidative stress.
