Abstract
ⶠThis manuscript investigates the contribution of photorespiration to oxidative load under moderate and severe salt and drought stresses in the tolerant plant Pancratium maritimum. ⶠThe data shows that photorespiration was strongly induced under moderate but not severe stresses, whereas oxidative stress was highest under severe stresses, indicating that photorespiration is a minor contributor to stress-induced oxidative load. ⶠUp to the best of the author's knowledge, this is the first report providing evidence that photorespiration does not intensify the salt- and drought-induced oxidative stress.
