Abstract
⺠The text evidences that the stoichiometric approach has limitations to quantify the influence of earthworms on soil organic matter chemistry. ⺠This study shows that the biochemical composition of casts is different than that of the surrounding control soil. ⺠The protection of relatively undecomposed organic material is mainly enhanced in the smallest aggregate size fraction of the earthworm casts.
