Abstract
⺠Biologists use indices such as mean weight diameters for describing soil structure. ⺠The exponent D of power laws of number-size distributions has been used as well. ⺠We showed that D is a consistent correlate of indices such as mean weight diameter. ⺠The fragmentation described by D is thus interpretable in terms of simpler indices. ⺠This likely depends on biotic components impacting the largest size fractions.
