Abstract
- The γ-tubulin-containing ring complex is conserved in almost all eukaryotes.
- Interphase and mitotic MTs in plant cells are nucleated from this complex.
- The augmin complex recruits the γ-tubulin complex to spindle and phragmoplast MTs, and promotes MT-dependent MT nucleation.
- Plant-specific regulators that target and activate the γ-tubulin complex remain to be characterized.
